Creating an Email Template
Posted by Deborah on December 10, 2007
There are two ways to have a signature block as your default new messages or replies – 1) signature file that is basically raw text and therefore no links, logos, etc. or 2) an HTML email template.
Here is how to set up the HTML template:
Open the Document Management Center ( Versions 6.x-7: View\Document Management Center. Version 8: Go To>>Document Templates. You will see a section on Email Templates. Right-click on “Email Templates” and select New. Create your signature block. You can use different fonts, colors and plug in hyperlinks, logos etc.
Put a name like “New Email” in the subject…..this won’t be the actual subject when you create a message, but will be the name of the template. Then save it
. Right-click on the template you just created and select Save as Default…and choose New. Then each time you begin an email the template will show up. You can also select Replies or Forward for the template to be used on those emails as well.
You can also add data from Goldmine fields into your template, for example, the recipient’s first name. To edit the template, right-click and select Edit. Click on the button to Insert a Field
and choose Contact Details. Choose First Name. It will plug in
<<&firstname>>
to the template. Click Save. Now, each time you compose an email to a contact, the first name of the contact will appear in the email.

We’ve been using an html template for all of our emails but suddenly, they are no longer working.
New Message: sigannie
the template is housed in our html documents folder so the template body has this:
<>

I would probably need a little more information to help you out. It looks like sigannie is the template for default new messages? when you say it is not working what is happening? One thing to do would be to make sure that the path of the template hasn’t been changed.

There is No trace of Signature in GM 7.5 after upgrading from 7.0? Do you know where I can create or use a signature? a simple text sign…(All I found was digital id and that is Not what we need)!
Thank You!

oops I found it… (and I had looked 3 times in there but any ways):
It is under Edit- Preferences-E-Mail, More Options the 3rd checkbox…then browse for the signature file then click OK and get out.
Thanks Deb.
(I have read your instructions before)! please keep it up!

How do I change the font, add a logo, etc. into my signature in Goldmine?

Assuming you have created a template with the above instructions and not a .txt signature file, you should see buttons in the create email window for fonts, hyperlinks, pictures. If you don’t see these buttons then you need to make sure your email options are to send HTML email and make sure you have Internet Explorer 7.0 if Goldmine 6.7 or above.
