Premium Edition is Showing Old Help file?

If you having upgraded to Premium Edition you may be showing an old version and old help files when you go to Help>>GoldMine Help. Here is the fix:

Windows XP:

Start>>Run>>regedit
Select “hkey_local_machine”
Select “software”
Select “FrontRange Solutions “
Select “GoldMine”
The GMHelpFile should be pointing to GoldMine.chm in correct PE folder.

Mine is C:AppsGoldmineGoldMine.chm

You will need to log out and log back in to Goldmine to see the changed file.

GoldMine Occasions for Birthdays or Anniversaries

Occasions are a handy way of scheduling a recurring event like a birthday or anniversary. It doesn’t clutter up your calendar like a recurring appointment would.

You can find the occasion window by viewing the calendar in a weekly or daily view.

Right-click in the space and fill out the dialog, paying attention to both tabs. Then, when the occasion comes up, you will be reminded of the Occasion and asked whether to schedule an action, for example, send birthday card.

You can view a list of Occasions from the Activity List.   You can right-click and output this list to Excel or a printer.

Creating an Email Template

There are two ways to have a signature block as your default new messages or replies – 1) signature file that is basically raw text and therefore no links, logos, etc. or 2) an HTML email template.

Here is how to set up the HTML template:

Where Did The Original Email Go?

GoldMine tries to help you keep your inbox clean and assumes that if you reply to a message that it can file the original message.  You can change this preference so that the original message stays in your Inbox and you will need to file the message yourself. 

To change setting:

1. File\Preferences.
2. Internet or Email Tab depending on your version.
3. Click the “More Options” button.
4. On the Composing Tab, uncheck “Complete original message”.

Can’t Open a Word Doc from Office 2007?

If you have received a Word document with an extension of .docx it was created in Word 2007.  You won’t be able to open this document if you have version of Word 2003 or older.  But, there is a converter tool that will automatically know to open .docx files in your version of Word.
