If you are changing servers or even if you have re-organized your folders, you may have broken all your document links. There is a free utility from Prior Analytics that you can use to easily put in the old path of the documents and then the new path and it will run through and globally change all your documents. You can find that utility here.

Activity Notes Fix
Posted by Deborah on June 24, 2007
Trying to enter information in the Notes section of an activity and nothing happens? You will want to turn off the HTML capability in your activities. This also helps if you are trying to create reports that show the Activity Notes. (Otherwise, the HMTL codes get into the notes).
To turn it off: Open the gm.ini file and add the following to the [Goldmine] section: HTML_Cal_Notes=0
(You will not be able to format your notes, ie bold, color, etc)

You’ve Got to See GoldMine Premium
Posted by Deborah on June 22, 2007
The new user interface in GoldMine Premium Edition is more efficient and includes links for recently viewed items, improved search capabilities, fields that auto-complete to reduce typing, and tabs and workflow that can be personalized. In addition, GoldMine PE features dynamic sorting and filtering, which allows users to add attributes and criteria to a search by clicking within results, as well as sort by different criteria on-the-fly without re-running a query. Dynamic sorting and filtering is more robust than the flat-list searches common in many CRM solutions, and saves users time and delivers information in an easy-to-use format.

How do I set up an email signature?
Posted by Deborah on June 22, 2007
These steps will help you create a basic signature block that you can have at the bottom of your default email messges. You are limited to your font, size and colors. If you require more advanced formatting with colors and logos, you may want to look into creating an HTML email template. If you are using a default template for new messages and replies then this signature will not show up.
Start by opening Notepad, Wordpad or Word. Create your signature block and Save As with a name like JohnSig.txt.
If you are running GoldMine Premium- Version 8 -then you will have to add a tag to the .txt file, otherwise all the lines will run together. So for Premium the signature should have <br> after each line for a break. Like this:
Deborah Atkinson <br>
Solutus<br>
You can save this anywhere but preferably in My Documents or the Goldmine folder. In GoldMine, go to Edit\Preferences and select the Internet tab. Click on More Options. On the Composing Tab in the General Section, place a check next to Use Signature File. Click on the browse button to find the signature file you just saved.

Customer Retention
Posted by Deborah on June 21, 2007
From FrontRange Solutions:
- The average business loses 50% of its customers every 5 years
- New customers cost 7-10 times more than retaining an existing one
- Increase in retention of 5% can increase profits 25-75%
Clearly, the “customer experience” is the competitive battleground in business today.
Now, with New GoldMine Premium Edition 8.0, you can add customer service to your GoldMine to help you provide better, more profitable customer service and achieve the benefits that customer retention can bring.
